Couples Exercises To Improve Physique and Relationship
In the midst of a new year comes the opportunity to start anew in many things. Since Valentine's Day is fast approaching, our local Wilmington NC sports chiropractor is encouraging everyone to start working out with their partner. Even if you are used to chocolates in a box and dining out, getting fit can become a priority for both of you. These partner workouts can help to build trust while keeping you both active and limber.
High Five Push-ups
See how long your partner can hang by doing pushups with a twist. Get into pushup position while facing each other. As you are completing each push-up, instead of pushing all the way up, give each other a high five before doing the next push-up.
Partner Yoga
The word 'yoga' means union in Sanskrit, and this is exactly what partner yoga aims to achieve - a uniting of two people. For example, the "Lover's Dancer Yoga Pose" you stretch your bodies while enhancing your balancing skills by doing the dancer yoga pose. Your partner should be facing you while you both hold the dancer pose. As you're balancing, extend an arm towards each other so you can hold hands.
Couple's Lunges
Meditate and relax with each other to strengthen your connection with the world around you and your partner. Stand next to each other so your hips are touching. Slowly get into the tree pose while paying close attention to your breathing. Clear your mind and hold the pose for several moment before switching sides to repeat.
Working out with your partner can be very beneficial. You'll gain a boost in feel good endorphins which will help to improve your relationship, your mental state and your overall commitment to getting fit. You'll also push yourself to higher limits because both of you will be more motivated to outperform the other. No matter what your fitness goals are for the year, be sure to include your partner in them so you both can reap the benefits.
